Rescuers were attempting to reach around 100 people still trapped, with more than 300 individuals in the club at the time of the collapse, with authorities initiating extensive search and rescue efforts in collaboration with national police. Among the injured is merengue singer Rubby Pérez, who was performing in the club at the time of the incident. Among the dead is former Major League Baseball pitcher Octavio Dotel, and Nelsy Milagros Cruz Martinez, the governor of Monte Cristi, who was also the sister of former Seattle Mariners player Nelson Cruz.
